Ghost hunter found guilty
By LAUREN HOUGH / Journal Staff Writer
MARTINSBURG — Despite efforts by the defense to convince jurors that Susan Crites was nothing more than a friend who offered a sympathetic ear, the local ghost hunter and author was found guilty Friday on eight misdemeanor charges of practicing medicine and counseling without licenses.
The jury’s decision was formed after listening to a full day of testimony and often-conflicting reports about how Crites portrayed herself among those who were members of the now-defunct West Virginia Society of Ghost Hunters.
New addition to the Whispers’ EVP file today from Rainie, it’s pretty interesting.
If you go to the Investigation page you can view the 2 EVP’s and some video there for now. I’ll update that page over the weekend, right now I’m just too busy with my real job and am a bit exhausted, and need a break.
We got back early on Sunday and I’m currently putting together the video files after many hours of review. To be honest, it was a rather quiet night there, compared to what Jared and others have posted online and told us. But there are some things to present, and I’m a little over 70% through the video and audio.
The K-2 meter was unsuccessful (as it has been here at my home) and seems to require a certain type of spirit activity, or a medium skilled in bringing them forth. It’s possible children or Victorian era spirits have trouble relating to how they can affect the device? I am guessing, but then again the activity and energy here where I live is rather weak by comparison to many others, and it was a rather quiet night at Whispers.
Jared is a great host, is very interested in the paranormal activity there, and it has become quite a popular place for investigators. Give him some good notice (1-3 months) if you want to reserve the house for a night or two.
We did have some personal experiences, that revolved around the faint voice of a child or woman crying or speaking in a sad tone throughout the house. It is similar to the one captured on Whispers’ web site, in the video there. It seems you hear it better in-person than on a recorder, as it sounds far away and faint.
The videos are combined segments with titles (getting better at this) and should be up in a day or two, check the investigation page daily.
