Old Skeptics Article Investigating Lorrain and Ed Warren

Ξ May 12th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Paranormal Worlds |

I’ve always thought the Warrens should not have been taken as seriously as they were.  This ten year old article from 1997 shows us why.  And it also reinforces why I really don’t care for presenting photos as evidence.  It’s not some elitist video handycam thing I have, it’s just that I’ve yet to see a photo that was convincing.  They really are just the same as an unexplained electromagnetic spike or temp drop - clues, hints, things to look for.  If I get an orb in a photo on an investigation (that isn’t easily or obviously explainable) - I start poking around where it appeared just to be sure, and it has always yielded results with other mediums eventually (video/audio).  But the photo itself is just not interesting enough to care much about ultimately.

Ed and Lorraine Warren have been investigating hauntings for over 40 years and claim to have mountains of proof for the existence of ghosts. We sought to examine their evidence to see if it stands up to the scientific rigor they claim to endorse.

Ed and Lorraine Warren hunt ghosts - ghosts, apparitions, demons, possessed people, places and things. They have been doing so for decades, and claim to have looked at nearly 8000 cases. They are world renowned for this practice, and they dwell right here in Monroe Connecticut.

As a regional skeptical organization, we have taken on the task of investigating local paranormal claims. We sought to evaluate the phenomenon of ghosts (in the generic sense, referring to all manner of spiritual manifestations) and see if there is any evidence to support the hypothesis that the phenomenon exists. On the matter of hauntings, the Warrens are one of the preeminent experts, and they are local, so naturally we decided to look into their work. Also, they claim to have scientific evidence which does indeed prove the existence of ghosts, which sounds like a testable claim into which we can sink our investigative teeth. What we found was a very nice couple, some genuinely sincere people, but absolutely no compelling evidence, or, more precisely, there was a ton of “evidence,” but none of it stands up to rigorous scientific testing, and most of it not even to cursory testing. None of it. (click headline to read full article)

Battlefield Phantoms: Ghosts of War - By Stephen Wagner

We need good paranormal researchers. Thankfully, Jeff Belanger has entered the field. As the founder of GhostVillage.com and the author of such terrific books as The World’s Most Haunted Places and Our Haunted Lives, Jeff is quickly becoming a respected investigator, journalist, spokesperson and advocate for explaining the unexplained. One of his most recent books is Ghosts of War: Restless Spirits of Soldiers, Spies, and Saboteurs, about which I interviewed him.

Virgin Mary cheese sandwich tattoo

Ξ May 8th, 2007 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Paranormal Worlds |

Miami Beach, Florida - The woman who sold a grilled cheese sandwich that she claimed resembled the face of the Virgin Mary for $28,000 wanted to remember the holy food with a tattoo.

The sandwich, which was bought on eBay by GoldenPalace.com back in  2004, was on display in front of Miami Ink Tattoo Studio on Friday while Diana Duyser had the image from the sandwich tattooed near her heart.

A representative from Golden-Palace.com was with Duyser while she got her tattoo.  The work cost about a thousand dollars, and Golden-Palace picked up the bill.

Duyser was pleased with her new body art. She said quote:  “We all believe in certain things, OK, and this is what I believe in, and this is what I want near and close to my heart. She’ll be there forever.”

Forums Are Up

Ξ May 4th, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Paranormal Worlds |

I finally decided to put a forum for communication purposes, and to discuss investigations, paranormal topics, etc…,

You don’t have to register to post I believe, but, I will probably change that soon.  EzBoard’s got a typical registration process, that’s painless.  If you for some reason get stuck on the offer page after signing up - just close that window and go to your e-mail to validate, and skip it.  Then log back in.

I welcome everyone and anyone to post and contribute, ask questions etc…, whether you are on the team or not.

Thanks!

Brad

Bobby Mackey’s employee gets bizarre phone message

Ξ May 1st, 2007 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Paranormal Worlds |

This is a small video clip of a Bobby Mackey’s employee who showed up for the investigation, and claims he got a call from the bar (showed up as “Bobby Mackey’s” on his stored cell phone number) not long ago, with a strange voice saying “make them leave” and then hanging up.  They said a southern rock band was playing that night, and that they were not the typical country style band they were used to.  Apparently a first for Bobby Mackey’s (to have anything other than traditional country)

I don’t know what to think of it - cannot consider it evidence of the paranormal, but who am I to tell them they faked it? So I thought I’d post it for people to see.  I do find it interesting the backstage area and the stage area in particular, seem to be the hot spots.  And we did record an evp on video of a woman’s voice that you’ll see in our evidence files, captured behind the stage when a rod-like ecto shape shows up in front of us.

But do spirits really use phones to communicate? How bizarre.  Again, not posting this as evidence, but for interest and reaction.

My name is Brad, and I am a team member of Paranormal Investigators Of Northern Kentucky (P.I.N.K.). Previously I was a member of Southern Ohio Paranormal and have also conducted independent investigations. PINK has been a highly successful group in the field and have been to many locations in the last 3 years around the OH/KY/IND area.

I have investigated, formally as a small group or with an "official team," close to 20 different private homes and government buildings, as of summer 2008. Most of the investigations were homes owned by concerned or curious residents. I also live in an active home in an Ohio River historic district, across the river from downtown Cincinnati, and it has propelled my long-time interest into a formal hobby a few years ago, helping others and cataloging the evidence of stories.

P.I.N.K. is registered with the State Of Kentucky as an offical non-profit organization. This web site does not represent P.I.N.K. or it's views necessarily, and not all of the evidence here is approved by the group. This is just a personal blog/diary of mine, as I wanted an outlet to show what I've recorded and experienced.

In any case, I welcome questions and constructive criticism of anything here.
